Beware of Scammers: Fake Permits to Israel
Hamodia Report about Scammers offering fake permits
Hamodia report from New York
Multiple people travelling to Israel have found themselves arrested upon their arrival and deported; unbeknownst to the travelers, their permits were fraudulent.
After several cases of this reported to Chaim V’Chessed, it was revealed unscrupulous scam artists who are taking advantage of people hoping to travel and charging them for false papers.
There have cased in the United States and the United Kingdom of people falling victim to this fraud.
Sources told Hamodia they spent thousands of dollars on a permit only to be arrested in the airport.
In one community member’s case, he paid $2,600 to someone who promised him a permit. The middleman was a scam artist, who knowingly sold him a false permit even though the man had been denied in the record of application.
There are several con men selling fake permits, giving the people purchasing them the false impression their application of entry has been granted. People are paying between $2,000 to $6,000 to these scam artists.
In some cases, the permit hadn’t been applied for via Israel’s Interior Ministry, or the travelers had been denied travel opportunities but the false permit was sold anyway.
A permit cannot be purchased or granted through a middleman. A permit can only be granted by the local Israeli Consulate.
