Census: It is not too late to complete

You must complete the census by law. It is an offence not complete the census, and you could be fined up to £1,000.

It is still not too late to complete your Census. The responses you give will help inform and plan the services your community needs, including healthcare, education and transport – and organisations such as the Jewish Policy Research Institute. Simply visit www.census.gov.uk and enter your unique access code to begin. If you want to fill out a paper census, you can request a paper census questionnaire to be sent in the post.
There’s plenty of help available, including guidance on questions, accessible formats and translations. Visit www.census.gov.uk/help or telephone 0800 141 2021.

You can trust the census to keep your information safe. Your census information is protected by law. In fact, it’s a crime for anyone to share your personal information. The personal information you put on your census is only used for statistical purposes. Census statistics do not contain any information that will allow you or anyone you live with to be identified. Personal information includes things like your name, date of birth and address.


Census officers may visit residents to complete their census. Officers will identify themselves as being from the Office of National Statistics and will wear personal protective equipment in line with government guidance.


You must complete the census by law. It is an offence to supply false information or to not complete the census, and you could be fined up to £1,000.

Some questions are clearly labelled as voluntary. It is not an offence if you do not answer these.
